THE STORY OF THE FUNSLINGER
{Definition: Story(stawRi) n. narrative of real or fictitious events,
tale, myth,legend}
It begins in Southern England, Folkestone in Kent to be precise, where
a young boy grew up into a world of a world of magic and magicians.
His name was Clive and his father started him on the yellow brick road
by giving him a magic box which made candies appear and disappear when
he was six years old. Nine years, and lots of backyard magic shows
later, he made his first London West End appearance on the stage of the
Fortune Theatre, Dury Lane,
and a story in a national magazine led to his first network TV appearance
at sixteen. Two years later, on his eighteenth birthday, he
became one of the youngest members of the world-famous Magic Circle.
However, it was that TV debut that made the greatest impression on him.
He decided to dedicate himself to the magic of television.
He developed a special persona and style of presentation--he became Clive
Court, The Casual Cowboy Conjurer--
a lighthearted magician who 'threw-away' his tricks with a shrug and a
self-deprecating line of patter, "I do the magic of the future--a few more
tricks like that and I won't have any future."
As Clive developed his Magic Goes West style in London, he studied TV
production, design, scriptwriting, advertising, and public relations.
He also toured Europe, performed on TV, and produced a subterranean
magic show in Kent's Chislehurst Caves before heading North to work
on the promotion of Granada TV's Coronation Street during its first year
of production.
But the dawning of the satellite TV age with the launch of Telestar prompted
him to seek more international experience. He decided to work and
study in four major English-speaking countries and the first stop
on the Casual Cowboy Conjurer's world tour was Australia.... |
